In the season two episode "New Car," Philip and Elizabeth had a discussion about life in the U.S. that ended with Elizabeth saying that "easier is not always better."

What do you think the main differences are between how Philip and Elizabeth see life in the U.S.? And how about people like Nina, Arkady, and Oleg, who are viewing the U.S. from more obviously external perspectives--what do they think about life in the U.S.?

The Church and Pastor Tim seem to serve as additional parental figures for Paige--parental figures that provide a more unambiguously black-and-white, worldview than her real parents can. We also know that Philip and Elizabeth will soon be asked to tell Paige the truth about their jobs and their lives in the U.S.

Do you think Paige might confide in her pastor if her parents try to bring her in?  What do you think she would tell him?

In the season two episode "New Car," both Philip and Elizabeth were appalled by the notion of the U.S. having placed fake plans for them to steal, an act that ended up indiscriminately killing Soviet soldiers down the line.

Do you think this was a moral issue for them ("that was an evil thing to do, and it would have been just as evil if we had done it"), or do you think they would have been perfectly happy doing the same sort of thing in reverse?

You can expect spoilers for the entire first two seasons in the comments.

Seasons 1 and 2 both had technology-related arcs driving the plots.  In S1, the KGB was after the Strategic Defense Initiative ("Star Wars"), ending in the finale with Philip learning that it was far from operational. In S2, the KGB wanted Stealth technology, ending in the finale with the KGB almost getting the Echo program, required to get the technology running.

What technology would you like to see as the focus in S3?

I was watching The Great Race, and at some point the movie protagonists roll into Tobolsk. At which point I thought: hm.. that's where Philip was born.
