UK's Geektown is suggesting (unconfirmed) that season two will begin in the UK on the 28th of March, based on speculation that season two will run straight through after they finish repeating the season one episodes. Yes, I'm back already with another linkspam! I could maaaaaybe have waited another day, but some of this stuff has been so good, and I feel moved to share.

I'll start with a really very different sort of interview with Joel Fields from spoilertv.com that took questions in advance from the fans and got him to answer them. There are spoilers galore, but I suspect that a couple of people in this community will be very excited to see some of the responses there. :)

And then there's this other interview from tv.com with Joel and Joe Weisberg, which also has some spoilers in it.

And then there's another interview with the two of them from the Huffington Post, which also has some spoilers in it.

And one more from iamrogue.com, also with the two of them and also with some season two spoilers.

There are also four short videos from the Bryant Park interview of two days ago with Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields, and Noah Emmerich: on nuclear launch codes, creating 1980s D.C. in New York City, designing spycraft for The Americans, and on the secret life of Stan (none of which are particularly spoilerrific).

Next, [tumblr.com profile] nerd-utopia has got screenshots of the terrific The Americans spread and multi-page article in TV Guide: 1, 2.

And a lovely profile on Holly Taylor (Paige) from Canadian newspaper The Ottawa Citizen.

And The Saratogian has a great review of season two from the screeners.

And speaking of which, guys, I don't know how much you've all been following the early critical response to this show's second season, but it's been so fantastic. Over at the [tumblr.com profile] americansfan tumblr, Emma put together a representative compilation of it. And, like, the only negative comments I can find about the show at all (and I've looked!) are from critics like rogerebert.com's Brian Tallerico who wasn't completely on board with season one but still thinks season two is amazing. The critics have always been good to this show, but this is truly unprecedented.

Fast Company has a terrific interview with The Americans' music supervisor PJ Bloom.

The website kerirussellsource.org has a bunch of shots of the filming of the season two finale, which is currently ongoing.

Over at Tumblr, [tumblr.com profile] darjeelingandcoke is doing a countdown list of eight reasons to watch The Americans in the last eight days before the season two premiere: here's #8.

And finally, this already got linked separately, but in case there's someone out there who's only got a subscription to certain tags: part one and part two of [dreamwidth.org profile] quantumreality's essay on symmetries in The Americans.

Five days, 10.5 hours to go!

This week's TV Guide features a piece with a lot of juicy season two spoilers in it (including at least a few bits not mentioned previously).

A look at the press kit for season two that a bunch of very lucky television journalists have received over the last week (no spoilers).

We now have a full episode description for episode 204 (second season, fourth episode).

For those of you in North America: Keri Russell is going to be on Late Night with David Letterman on Thursday, February 20th. Set your PVRs!

And for those of you in New York or who can get there easily, there is a free and open-to-the-public panel interview tomorrow morning at Bryant Park with showrunners Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields and actor Noah Emmerich (Stan). I hope someone can make it and do a writeup for us!

This hour-long panel from the Academy of Television Arts And Sciences with Joel Fields, Joe Weisberg, Noah Emmerich, Matthew Rhys (Philip), Annet Mahendru (Nina), and Margo Martindale (Claudia) is actually from last spring, but I didn't link it then, and it's been making the rounds again.

I've been trying to get people to come here and link to their own fanworks rather than linking to them myself in my linkspams, but this very clever picspam by [tumblr.com profile] belovedcreation that reimagines images from Austenland and Death Comes to Pemberley as a The Americans AU was too good to pass up. :)

There was a great review of the season one DVD/Blu-Ray set from Australia this week. And based on one of the little featurettes on the set, TV.com did a little piece on "Clark" and Martha's "marriage".

And finally, for the fanwriters and fanartists out there, there's a multifandom fanfiction and art fest going on, and also a multifandom fanfiction fest celebrating friendship. Go forth and request/create The Americans fanworks!

These built up again, so I'm not going to wait the full week! Moaaar links, coming right up:

First, in honour of Valentine's Day, some The Americans valentines by the show's script coordinator Molly Nussbaum: Philip, Stan, Elizabeth, Irina, Clark, Paige, Stan II.

Next, the First Look at Season Two thing from U.S. iTunes that [dreamwidth.org profile] sistermagpie posted about is now up on youtube and viewable by non-Americans. :)

The results of two interviews with Starpulse's Brittany Fredrick: one with showrunner-writers Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields, and one with executive producer Graham Yost (this latter one is specifically a look back at season one, if you're extra-spoiler-avoidant).

And speaking of interviews, SpoilerTV.com is soliciting questions for a future interview with Joel Fields.

FX is doing an online promo game that allows people to "unlock" a special preview by answering a question for 3 days--first on Facebook, then on Twitter, then on Instagram (viewable only in the U.S., because on the main FX site, but [dreamwidth.org profile] apolla_savre has posted screencaps in the comments for us American-impaired folks).

Some information on one of this season's guest actors (I won't mention the name in case people are avoiding casting spoilers). He also tweeted about his nudity contract and took a picture of the wardrobe department while on set.

Spoilers galore! [personal profile] sistermagpie already linked to this, but just in case someone missed it, a wonderful Entertainment Weekly review of the season opener (including at least a few spoilers that hadn't already been leaked)! Plus a few more old-hat spoilers from other sources: from TVGuide and from Enstars.

The title of episode eleven (of thirteen) has been released.

There is now a full episode description for episode 203 (second season, third episode).

The "Paige and Henry," "Danger," and "Rules" trailers have finally been put on youtube.

A silly "Parenting tips from The Americans" vid from youtube that feels like a fanvid but is apparently made by the people who make the show.

A shot of Keri Russell on set outdoors from a couple of days back.

Yahoo's TV blog nominates The Americans as one of the shows to catch up on during the Olympics.

Get ready for a ludicrous number of links this time!

First off, there's a great interview with Keri Russell (Elizabeth) and Matthew Rhys (Philip) in Entertainment Weekly that's sadly behind a paywall, but [tumblr.com profile] jenningscomrades posted a series of readable screenshots over at Tumblr.

And speaking of Tumblr, the full set of promotional pictures for season two was posted by [tumblr.com profile] theamericanstv there too: 1, 2.

In further interviews, writer/showrunner Joe Weisberg was interviewed at the Writers' Guild of America Awards (the bit with Weisberg starts at 8:05), including at least a couple of things he hasn't already said a thousand times. :)

The show's costume designer Jenny Gering was also interviewed in Elle.

Episode 201 hasn't yet aired, of course, but we now have the plot description for episode 202.

According to writer/showrunner Joel Fields on Twitter, the script for the season two finale was finished this week, and the title for episode ten has been released.

And in the vein of "better late than never," the first season of our favourite show starts airing in Finland today on MTV (there's a trailer at the site and also a wonderful promotional campaign there) and in Germany on ProSieben Maxx (here's a trailer--dubbed, as is par for the course in Germany and a review from the Spiegel for those of you who speak German).

Any of you who are in New York or can get there easily can buy raffle tickets to join cast and crew in style at the season premiere (and get to see the first episode two days early!).

Bad news for anyone who was hoping to see The Americans on Netflix someday: Fox (which owns FX) and Amazon have signed a new distribution agreement granting Amazon Prime's Instant Video subscribers exclusive rights to the show.

There have been a few voices in the media that are hyping the season one DVD/Blu-Ray release in the hope of snagging new viewers before season two: The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Rotten Tomatoes (which chose The Americans as their Weekly Binge show last week).

And last but not least, here's a shot of Matthew Rhys checking out the timeline in the writers' room. (16 days!)

Well, clearly I should have waited just one more day to post the last linkspam! Live and learn.

First up this time around is a marvelous Writers' Guild of America interview with Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields. (This is what you want to click on if you're avoiding any hint of spoilers, because they don't really get into season two.)

Next, all sorts of goodness from the season two TCA press tour panel yesterday: from The AV Club, the LA Times, Hitfix, TVLine, Entertainment Weekly, zap2it.com, USA Today, and Deadline. There's a lot of repetition, but if you have time, you'll read all of them, because each publication puts the focus on slightly different information. Oh, and spoilers (mild ones, but still spoilers) abound, obviously.

And last, there's the official FX playlist for the trailers and teasers that have been released. (There's apparently one more recent one out there that presumably will eventually be posted there, but I haven't been able to find it online yet.) The new one is up!

A tiny (and non-spoilery, as far as I can tell) teaser trailer has been released for season two! They've given it a name ("Hidden") and there are hints that there will be others. [Edited to add: Another one, "Dinner Table," has also been released now.]

Guys, guys, our show is cleaning up in the Top Ten lists this year. Here are several more: the Washington Post, Vulture (and here's what it looks like in the actual magazine), and the American Film Institute list.

Antennafree TV features The Americans as one of the thirteen new TV shows you should binge-watch over the holidays.

On the spoiler front, ScreenCrush talks about the teaser and the other known spoilers that have been released so far (but also mentions one I hadn't seen before), the title has been revealed for season two, episode six, Joel Fields tweeted a photo of an editor working with the opening shot for season two, and there are now several shots of the "80s wall" in the The Americans writers' room: one of Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg standing in front of it early in the season, a closeup revealing potential spoilery things, and another closeup revealing potential spoilery things.

I'll start with two recent pieces that really get into some detail about the show and the making of it: a great interview with the The Americans editors from Editors Guild Magazine, and a piece with a focus on Keri Russell from Capitol File Magazine. Both have very (very very!) minor spoilers for storylines in season two.

Next, a satisfying "guide to the TV galaxy" from the Weekly Wonk (a U.S.-based political magazine) that focuses primarily on awesome non-U.S. shows, but pays tribute to our show as well. :)

And finally, some tiny tidbits from Twitter:

Non-spoileriffic: a cute photo of a cat on Matthew Rhys' chair, a shot of the actors who play Martha, Nina, and Sandra together at a recent fundraiser, and a picture of showrunners Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg together on set while filming.

Mildly spoileriffic: a shot of a prop from a corner of a set, a shot of the filming of an outdoor scene, a shot of Keri Russell in disguise, two tweets from writer Angelina Burnett about the shooting of an episode that she wrote (including one very intriguing spoiler!), and a photo of a script that reveals the title for season two, episode four.

(Heads-up to the spoilerphobes: there may be discussion of the spoilers linked to above in the comments.)

Now that the new season of our beloved show has started filming (airdates are to follow, but they're saying "January" for the U.S. and Canada), tiny not-particularly-spoilery spoilers are starting to leak out on Twitter.

An interesting post-panel guest piece on the Paley Center blog that talks about creator Joe Weisberg's longago visit to a Long Island high school and draws parallels between The Americans and the film Doctor Zhivago.

An interview with Annet Mahendru (Nina) from Westside People Magazine.

The Americans Season 1 is available for pre-order at amazon on DVD in the UK (release date January 27th, 2014) and in the U.S. (release date unknown).

Greetings from New York, the morning after the Paleyfest 2013 panel on The Americans. I was lucky enough to be in the audience for it, and as promised, this is going to be my complete writeup. (If you're looking for a shorter, journalism-y-er version, this Deadline piece is pretty good, and this Rolling Stone piece is even better.) There will be a panel discussion on The Americans at the Paley Centre for Media's New York PaleyFest next month on October 4th, with both showrunners (Joe Weisberg and Joel Fields) and all three main actors (Keri Russell, Matthew Rhys, and Noah Emmerich) in attendance, and Vulture's award-winning critic Matt Zoller Seitz moderating.

I, uh, will be attending this (because I am apparently a freak with money to burn or something), and will plan to do a full writeup for the community afterwards. Is anyone else planning to get tickets? I'd love to meet up!
