This is just another little tiny tidbit for the season 2, but one that I thought was so awesome I just had to post it. It's from a review of the second season in EW posted here: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20786364,00.html
The reviewer thinks S2 looks awesome!
Here's the little spoiler in the review
From the review:
"There's a marvelous moment when the Jenningses and another KGB couple conspire to cross paths so they can see one another's children. They share a look that conveys so much at once — admiration, loneliness, longing. The Americans is the story of people wanting more truth in their lives and more justice in the world, and it has found a unique way to tell it."
I don't even know where to start at how beautiful that moment sounds! Elizabeth and Philip and another Elizabeth and Philip showing off their American children together because they love them and are so proud of them and only this other couple will understand! I so love this show for giving us that!
Though given the flashes on those previews, I'm thinking that other family comes to a terrible end sooner than later...

Not in a huge huge, but just where we can see that these are two people just as in sync as P&E but incorporating different personalities, both at work and with parenting. Like maybe in this family Mom's the "fun" one--who knows?

Date: 2014-02-14 01:20 am (UTC)So in my mind--and I don't want to get too attached to the idea since it's probably wrong!--Philip is as usual feeling like he has to Do Something Dammit about this other family getting killed, even if it's only investigating and avenging them in some way.
Elizabeth was mentioned in another article I read as being very conflicted now about her loyalties. Specifically it said she loved her children and wanted to protect them above all else...but would also recklessly dump them at the movies to answer a distress call.
So my guess is that P&E are on separate missions next week, and the Elizabeth's comes to her while she's got the kids and she ditches them--probably making Paige all the more suspicious.
If it was only the children who got killed...wow. That would be huge. Maybe Philip would be helping the parents find out what happened. But the other parents would be so devastated I feel like it could only have the saddest of endings without a real resolution--these people would have lost their children forever. Or it might be that the kids were killed and the parents get captured--double whammy. That's easily the biggest nightmare scenario for Philip and Elizabeth. And I can imagine Philip deciding on his own to try to figure out what happened.

Like, not that it's usually dangerous to do so, or that she can keep them under her wing forever without THEM getting weirded out, but I would think it would make the distress call that much more critical. And if it was the other agent and they hadn't been able to make contact before then, she could see it as necessary to find out what happened to keep Paige and Henry safe.
This sounds SO freaking good! 13 days!
