This is just another little tiny tidbit for the season 2, but one that I thought was so awesome I just had to post it. It's from a review of the second season in EW posted here: http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20786364,00.html

The reviewer thinks S2 looks awesome!

Here's the little spoiler in the review

From the review:

"There's a marvelous moment when the Jenningses and another KGB couple conspire to cross paths so they can see one another's children. They share a look that conveys so much at once — admiration, loneliness, longing. The Americans is the story of people wanting more truth in their lives and more justice in the world, and it has found a unique way to tell it."

I don't even know where to start at how beautiful that moment sounds! Elizabeth and Philip and another Elizabeth and Philip showing off their American children together because they love them and are so proud of them and only this other couple will understand! I so love this show for giving us that!

Though given the flashes on those previews, I'm thinking that other family comes to a terrible end sooner than later...

Yeah, I think it must be that family who are in the hotel room in all the previews. So loved that we are going to get a glimpse of another set of Directorate S operatives!

This is so exciting! It's sad to read, though, that he's having to spend more time pretending to care about Martha, even though it's a realistic way for them to go, when all he wants is to be home with Elizabeth. Those two kids just need a vacation together!

I really hope they explore the contrast between Clarke and Martha as fake newlyweds and Philip and Elizabeth almost being like newlyweds despite having been "married" for 15 years.

I do too, although I greedily hope we get the balance of that time on Philip with Elizabeth. I love so many aspects of the show, but it's their relationship in all its twisty, passionate, painful, adoring, complicated versions that really sold me.

Yay! That's exactly what I'm hoping to hear! It's really the struggle of watching them work through the difficult stuff and keep coming back to each other no matter what that makes their little successes worth it and that much more meaningful.

And now I'm terribly curious to know if we're going to get an "I love you" for Philip this season.

I would have included this in today's linkspam, but the "watchtheamericans.com" site has been down all morning! Maybe next time.

Also, how awesome would it be to see Philip take Elizabeth out on a date. I would die of the adorable if we ever saw that.

I KNOW. I think we kind of deserve some sweet, mushy moments after staying strong through the separation. That was so painful to watch!

This is SO awesome!!! I'm really curious to see the dynamic of the other couple and whether they found a sort of relationship like Philip and Elizabeth have over time, or whether it's more of a business thing. And of course that would make it all the more horrifying if (like it sounds like) that's the family that ends up being killed.

Yes! I'd be very interested in what the other couple's relationship is like!

Do you think it's possible the "agent in distress" could be the other directorate S mother? Like not spy distress (or I guess it could be, maybe) but maybe because of her kids having been killed? I wasn't quite sure how many bodies there were in the hotel room shot, but if it was only the kids who were killed that could have some interesting implications in watching how the other two sleeper agents reacted.

Like (and who knows how it plays out, I'm wrong most of the time) I could imagine a scenario where the kids get killed because the parents are off doing spy stuff and have left them in the hotel room, thinking it would be perfectly safe. And really, why wouldn't they? P/E leave Paige and Henry alone all the time. Or they drop them at the mall, or whatever.

I'm trying to imagine why, if Elizabeth is worried enough to stick close to home, she would be willing to drop them at the movies. Like, not that it's usually dangerous to do so, or that she can keep them under her wing forever without THEM getting weirded out, but I would think it would make the distress call that much more critical. And if it was the other agent and they hadn't been able to make contact before then, she could see it as necessary to find out what happened to keep Paige and Henry safe.

This sounds SO freaking good! 13 days!
