Broadcast Television Journalists Association Awards nominations

The awards season has officially begun with the nominations for the Broadcast Television Journalists Association (or "Critics' Choice") awards being released. The Americans has snagged nominations for "Best Drama Series," "Best Actor in a Drama Series" (Matthew Rhys), "Best Actress in a Drama Series" (Keri Russell), and "Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" (Noah Emmerich).

Anyone else find it curious that Noah Emmerich is competing in the 'supporting actor' category? I don't know much about awards competitions, but I have to wonder if that's something he chose, or if the organization chose for him. Will he compete in that category for the Emmys too?

I find it interesting that cable is picking up so many nominations.

Nominations are still open for 'Most Exciting New Series', so maybe The Americans will be nominated for that too.

Cable is where it's at for dramas, clearly. The networks have a lot of catching up to do.
