Still more social media tidbits

This picture, tweeted by Joel Fields, tells us that the title for season two, episode two will be "Cardinal."

This picture of a corner of an interior set, also tweeted by Joel Fields, seems to suggest more flashbacks coming (that does not look like an 80s clock to me--or am I remembering wrong?).

One fan also got a shot of Matthew Rhys in a phone booth during the filming of an outdoor scene. :)

It could be an old clock from the 70s. I associate 80s clocks with digital numbers. It was only 3 years ago that my clock radio that I got in 1980 finally gave out and I had to get rid of it!

I loved all those little tidbits! Someone asked Joel on Twitter about the 70's stuff and he responded something to the effect of that in order to make it look like 1982 (potential spoiler for a slight time jump ahead from 1981 where we were in season 1??), they have to use mostly 70's stuff, which makes sense when you think about it since most people don't buy all new "stuff" every year.

The watch on the nightstand looked like the one Philip wears. A honey trap, maybe? I don't recall seeing the lamp before. Doesn't look like their bedroom at home. Doesn't look like Martha's. Hmm... I was trying to figure out about that magazine... doesn't exactly look like light reading.

Intrigued by "Cardinal." Something to do with the assassination attempt on the Pope? They seem to be kind of loose with when events happened in actual history as long as it's generally in the right year on the show, which makes sense to keep the pacing interesting. Any other ideas about the title?

Ooh, 1982, really? I guess they are jumping forward a little, then. Thanks for passing that on!

"Cardinal" sounds like a code name to me. But who knows, it could be anything. :)

I know, right? That seems like a big jump of "what happened in the meantime??" since season one was only like 4 months or so, but then I guess they have to think about the kids aging and hoping they can get through a bunch of the ending of the cold war. Plus it could be interesting if it allows a little time for things from Season One to settle and/or develop a little... P/E to have a little time when things aren't so up and down, Paige to have time to grow even more suspicious, Martha to have time to get impatient... the dynamics of all the personal relationship could have more time to evolve.

Ooo... didn't think that it could be a code name! I think they called Charles Duluth "Sparrow" so that would fit in the bird theme! Most of my guesses end up being 180 degrees from what actually winds up happening, so I'd be more likely to bet on yours ;).

After seeing the picture of Nina/Arkady, I couldn't help but wonder if those two would be interesting as a pairing. I'm not particularly invested in the whole Stan/Nina thing since he's already married, I like Sandra, and the blackmail angle doesn't do a lot to endear me to them as a couple.

Oh, that's a good point about the kids. They kind of have to make it at least around a year later if the kids are a year older (and they totally are--have you seen the young actor who plays Paige on Twitter these days???).

That makes me a bit sad because it means they won't be able to address what happens in the interval in any detail. But I guess telling those stories will just be up to the fanwriters. ;)

No, has her appearance changed quite a bit? I guess kids do grow fast around that age...

I'll be satisfied as long as they do SOME touching on the aftermath of season one... like if they show Elizabeth coming home, a little bit of healing with the family coming back together, and then do a jump. If they completely skip all of that stuff that would give the arcs from season one a little resolution, well, I'll be disappointed, but then of course I'll just make up my own version and write it into a fic somewhere :)

I saw today that they would have a bunch of goodies on the DVD's, although no predicted release until January, bleh. I'm always interested to see what sort of deleted scenes and extras they throw in. They said somewhere they'd filmed the end of "Duty and Honor" with Irina and the son thread differently and then changed it to be more ambiguous, so I'm kind of curious what other things had been originally included, but then edited out later.

I can't tell to what extent Holly Turner's appearance has changed and to what extent she was just posting rather grown-up-looking pictures of herself, but yeah, she's definitely looking older these days.

I can't wait for the DVD extras either. I've ordered the UK DVD, which definitely comes out in January, and I've also got a pre-order in for the U.S. one, which will be coming out...someday. But the U.S. one is more likely to have extras.

Turns out I was wrong about the "Oleg" chair from that one photo... looks like it's a new character! IMDB has some cast listed for the first episode... and of course their information is sometimes not up to date... but I tend to believe it this time since there are several new characters and actors listed. There's a new character named "Oleg Burov" and one named "Bernadette."

So Oleg Burov must be one of the new "Rezidentura world" characters they're adding. Intriguing!
