A sudden assignment pulls Elizabeth away from her family at a crucial moment. At the FBI, a major development leads Aderholt to approach Stan about an urgent investigation.

I'm intrigued at the clips they put together for this preview, particularly starting around the 16 second mark when Stan is looking intently up at something (a picture on the wall perhaps?). Then it cuts to what looks like a photo of a woman seen mainly from the back talking to a man outside a door, with a V.O. from Claudia saying 'We have someone in Chicago under surveillance,' the a cut to Elizabeth saying she's going there to help him.

The way these clips are cut together with this V.O. makes it seem like Stan is looking at a photo of the surveillance operation in Chicago. Maybe, maybe not. I'm still hoping that the agent who got a look at Elizabeth in the most recent episode did a sketch of her and that's what Stan is looking at. We'll find out soon enough. This show is pretty sneaky about it's previews. They imply one thing but often turn out to be something else.

Question regarding the photo of the woman and the man. Have we seen this guy before? Any guesses on the woman? From the hat, I think it's Marilyn, but it could be Elizabeth in disguise or someone else we've never seen before.

From a couple of stills I saw Elizabeth and Marilyn (both in wigs) are together in what looks like a hotel room so it definitely could be them.

I'm also interested in the clip of Philip talking to Henry because I wonder if they're continuing to have Henry pick up on emotional stuff going on pretty quickly.

My favorite moment is Philip doing a drop for Oleg. It seems like he's maybe stepping up his own spying to figure out what Elizabeth's doing. Maybe with her out of town he's going to have more freedom to check some things out.

I'm looking forward to the scene between Philip and Henry. Just from that snippet of, "Look I love your mother, she loves me, it's just sometimes..." it sounds like they were talking about problems back home beyond just Philip's money woes.

I'm glad to see that Philip and Oleg still have a way to communicate even if they can't meet in person.

Now that I watched this again, I'm very intrigued by Dennis's comment, "We're going to get the Russians here and all over the country based on what we're learning, and it's going to happen fast." What have they now learned that has Dennis so certain that they're going to catch a bunch of Russians all of the sudden?

Yeah, that's what intrigued me too. Philip doesn't seem to be unloading all his feelings onto Henry--he's telling him it's fine. But it seems like Henry must have picked up on there being trouble between them. The synopsis says Elizabeth is pulled away at a crucial time--I wonder if she was supposed to see Henry and isn't.

No idea what the FBI could be onto now!

I'm betting that Henry is smart enough and intuitive enough to realize that Philip's comment that everything is 'fine' is not true.

I had to look up the meaning of the episode title. Yikes! Ominous.

Wonder if Elizabeth is about to have another long, bloody failure mission.

The title certainly implies that something is going to go spectacularly wrong with an otherwise carefully thought out plan: small mistakes becoming huge, conspirators turning on each other, many deaths, and the police closing in.

I am not expecting a happy outcome.

What's sad is, I keep remembering Elizabeth saying last season that she wished she could just run away from all of this. If they had either defected or simply gone back to Russia at the end of S5, they would be okay. Now? Elizabeth is destroying herself and everyone around her by trying to do it all alone. I feel sorry for her. The only person she could ever reveal her vulnerability to is Philip, but now she's even driven him away. I honestly don't think there is any way this series can end happily for the Jennings, but I still hate to see them fail.

IKR? I did also see another interesting still from this ep that I'll leave spoiler space for just because it's not in the preview...

Philip is somewhere with the hat he's wearing in that scene where he makes the drop. Maybe some kind of safe house--it looks like a storage room with a ladder stairs. Anyway, what was important was that he was looking at the pictures Elizabeth's been drawing on her job as Stephanie. It seemed like a nice symbolism, like Philip was looking at something hopeful about Elizabeth. Probably he'd just be puzzled by them, but I like the idea of him poking into her work and getting a glimpse of this therapy the artist is trying to give her.

Even if one/both end up dead, or one/both end up jailed or deported, I am still holding out hope that love will win out over duty. Philip hesitated committing to Oleg's request because of his love for Elizabeth. He almost went along with the Kimmy plan out of love for Elizabeth. And she was correct when she said that she hadn't asked for much since she took on the solo responsibility for all their spying in order to spare him - which she did because she loved him. Elizabeth's extreme behavior this season is because she's been pushed beyond her own limits due to her love for him. So if this episode offers up even a thread of hope that Philip will still see that side of Elizabeth, there's still hope that they will find their love for each other again before it's too late. Even if they go down in flames, I want them to go down together, knowing that their love for each other was the only true thing in their lives.

I had a terrible thought this morning. What if Elizabeth goes to Chicago and has a perfectly fine mission there, but the team at home (Paige, Marilyn, etc.) have what should have been a normal mission that goes wrong because Elizabeth isn't there to supervise things?

Could be--but I'd doubt they'd ever do anything without Elizabeth. I think Marilyn might be going with Elizabeth to Chicago. (Hopefully she's not taking Paige with her there.)
