The Americans did well yet again in the critics' various end-of-year lists! It was mentioned in the end-of-year roundups written by:

It also made the #2 spot in the Hitfix Critics' Poll (or the List of Lists). In addition, it's also on a list of especially underrated shows and a couple of different lists of shows for particular types of pop culture fans (fans of character-focused shows and fans of high-concept, plot-driven dramas in particular).

I don't actually think 'The Americans' is underrated? It's not winning awards but it's getting a lot of praise from critics.

Underrated by TV viewers, who don't watch it.

Yeah, I think what Treon says must be what they mean, even though it's kind of a silly way of defining 'underrated'. (Even on that front, though, it could be worse--the show has a consistent audience, if a fairly small one. Other quality shows don't even have that.)

That makes sense actually, though I'd think of rating a show as something you'd do once you had seen it
