Folks on earlier time zones already beat me to responding to this, but yes, there's another way of formatting it! I've never done it myself (I actually really, really like threading and miss it on sites that don't have it), but if you want, you can always switch over to reading things in "flat" mode. And like Treon mentioned, it's also possible to use the subscription feature for individual threads that have caught your eye or even (if you're a glutton for punishment) the entire discussion.
