The Philip and Stan scene

I suspect Philip was nothing but relieved to see Stan coming back to confide in him. For all that they are legitimately friends, Stan is first and foremost an asset to him, and as Elizabeth mentioned again and again, he's very useful to them. So yeah, you're right--Philip was definitely faking in that scene, but I don't think he was particuarly struggling with being annoyed with Stan or anything. He was just glad it was easier than it could have been.

Of course, it helped that I loved the scene, myself, especially the bit where Stan talks in a veiled way about Martha. "Not enough beer in the world."
