Fic: Grains of Gold Among the Sand

Happy New Year and happy yuletide reveals, everyone! This is the first of what I hope will be a number of post-yuletide fic posts here, because there were a whole bunch of great new stories written for our small-but-mighty fandom in this year's exchange.

Anyway, this year I had the pleasure of fulfilling the request for a The Americans story about Philip and Elizabeth and the kids for our very own [dreamwidth.org profile] sistermagpie (I know, right? How lucky did I get?)!

"Grains of Gold Among the Sand" by Jae Gecko
Summary: Philip Jennings throughout the years, navigating the minefields of marriage and family.
Size: 21159 words
Acknowledgements: To Luna, Minna Leigh, Pene, and Mijra for beta.

And now that I have two out of the three stories posted, let me announce this as well:

The Cost of Silence trilogy

1. (coming in 2014) (Gregory)
2. "Five Points Down" (Elizabeth)
3. "Grains of Gold Among the Sand" (Philip)

Three intersecting pre-canon stories that each deal in different ways with the emotional and interpersonal consequences of the secrets that these people used to keep, not just from the outside world, but from each other.

I suspected! But I also honestly didn't care who wrote it because I just enjoyed it so much! I look forward to reading it through again this weekend. :-) The thing that keeps making me laugh is the "The first man in space was Russian."

I can't even really fathom how Gregory must think of the Jennings marriage, or them as a team, or Philip as an individual. Eager to see what you have to say about it!

You actually wrote over 20k words for Yuletide?

This fandom really is exceptional. I haven't gotten around to reading any of them yet (and I doubt I'll have the time in the usual New Year rush at work), but those definitely go on my 'important' list. Yay, more fic!
