I really like your analysis or the Elizabeth/Stan parallels, and this line in particular:

Once Elizabeth's mother dies there will be no one left who remembers her as Nadezhda.

I believe she does love her mother, no matter how long it's been since she last saw her. But you're completely right - her mother represents so much more.
