Yes to all of that--their neuroses are a toxic match in more ways than just the one I originally was referring to.

One more way tangentially related to one of the ways you mention above: Elizabeth's got that hot button around honesty and being able to trust her partner, and Philip is...well, better at lying and manipulating than he is at anything else in the world, and he does it like breathing.
