Hmm...to me, 'hype' is necessarily something deliberate and orchestrated, not something that happens naturally. And for hype to come from so many different independent sources, there would have to be a major conspiracy going on between a whole bunch of very opinionated competing journalists from vastly different publications. :) To me it looks like lots of critics just happen to like it (some more than others, but no one's disliked season two yet).
I guess I think lots of positive attention can actually only be a good thing for a show like this one, which has a small enough viewership that it didn't have an easy time with renewal for the second season. I for one would love for it to have an easier time of it this time around. Positive press doesn't always translate to a huge ratings boost, but it can't hurt!
