Season one group rewatch: the pilot

This is the discussion post for the pilot episode in the group rewatch of season one. When you rewatched the episode, was there anything you noticed that you didn't notice the first time (and any subsequent times) you saw it? What things about it did you perhaps view differently after having seen the later episodes?

That seems like it makes sense. It gives him both a solution for the issue of how to protect the kids, which I agree he's probably been considering for some time, and also the "out" of using them as an excuse so he's not just doing it to be a sell-out. Not at all unlike how Elizabeth invites him to invite himself back home later because it would be best for the kids.
