This is a discussion post for episode 605 of The Americans, intended for viewers who are watching the show on the U.S./Canadian schedule. (Feel free to dive in to the discussion even if you're coming in late--and you should also feel free to start a new thread if it seems too daunting to read through what's already been posted first. If you're reading this at a point where you've already seen subsequent episodes, though, please take care to keep comments spoiler-free of anything that comes after season six, episode five.)

7) Lining your stomach with a big meal before drink can help to reduce the risk of getting drunk.
FALSE: Drinking on a full stomach before you go out will delay alcohol getting into your system, not prevent it. A meal will only delay the rate of alcohol absorption, but if you go on to drink heavily you will get drunk. However, it's still best to eat a proper meal before a night out, especially foods rich in carbohydrates and proteins.
Btw, olive oil is extremely thick. I don't think it's that easy to gulp it down like they did. I was going to test it myself, but I chickened out.
ETA: Turns out you can find anything on youtube, including ppl who drink olive oil
