The way I look at it is that she essentially went to est to gather intelligence on her husband. She wants to understand him better, and she's gotten all she can through observing him at home, so she's decided to gather information about this organization that has come to be meaningful to him and imagine him reacting to the kinds of things that were said to her there.
(I'm convinced that's the light in which she heard the "you love your prison" speech, by the way. She was there to learn more about Philip, so she imagined that speech being said to Philip and Philip reacting to it. The audience, however, knows it could just as easily apply to her, just in different ways.)
